SPS Clutch Lever Instructions

Pro Start Clutch Levers
Disconect clutch cable at engine. Remove Old Clutch Lever and Bar Mount.
If clutch cable is over year old, frayed or rusty (REPLACE IT) Thru the years of testing on bikes not of our own, the most common problem in fine tuning the SPS Clutch Lever was a bad cable? "Nuff Said"
Install clutch cable in SPS Clutch Lever. Lightly tighten bar mount, reinstall clutch cable at engine.

Adjust Clutch Cable with the cable adjuster for 1/8 inch free play at the clutch lever pivot opening(one Nickel)

                                    IMPORTANT
To Activate the upper lever, The lower lever must be depressed fully, then "with the index finger grab the upper lever and pull untill it hits the stop."

Adjust Clutch Lever to the desired position that is good for you. Tighten Bar Mount bolts.
Ride the bike to ensure no clutch slippege and the cable seated in the cable adjuster. Re-check the free play again,

Depress the lower handle and with the index finger grab the upper lever and pull towards lower lever, slowly release upper and lower levers at the same time making sure the upper lever is resting on the adjuster

Check the gap at the lever pivot opening, this should be the width of two nickels and a dime, This is only a reference point to get started launching your bike.  fine tuneing will depend on how hard you want to leave, and the cable geometry of the clutch cable arm on the motor.

Ride the bike and get use to pulling in the lower lever with two fingers and using the index finger to pull the upper lever,"Get the feel for releasing the two handles at the same time, applying equal pressure on the upper and lower levers, the release should be smooth and quick,Do Not Dump the Clutch, just a quick release of both handles. Making sure the upper lever is being activated.
Pratice shifting from 2nd to 3rd with upper lever being activated , I perfer to hold the index finger straight out and  depressing the lower lever with two fingers to shift

Next comes the FUN
In order to adjust the lever correctly you must leave the starting line at the same RPM every time, most 4 stroke have a rev limiter,if yours does, then hold the throttle wide open and release the two levers at the same time and hold on. If the bike wheelstands higher than you want, adjust the allen head screw in 1/4 turn(towards the lever stop). and repeat the launch. If the bike does not launch hard, back the allen head out a 1/4 turn , do this until the bike leaves hard! (YOU SHOULD NOT FEEL ANY CLUTCH SLIP WHEN ADJUSTED CORRECTLY if you do,back off the screw.
2 strokes holding the throttle wide open will flood the pipe and act like a rev limiter, rev the bike up to the point of the pipe is just starting to flood, and release the levers at this point.

If your bike does not have a rev limiter or you don't want to leave that hard you will need to use the exhaust sound as a reference point for RPM, or hold the throttle 1/8 to 1/4, what ever is comfortable for you, just remember that the more consistent the rpm is on the launch the better you will be able to dial the lever in.

Practice using the levers with the engine off, Soon the process will be second nature, Getting the Hole Shot will be the norm!
